Frank Melton (WJI speaker 06), mayor of Jackson, Miss., died of heart failure in early May at the age of 60. Though controversial, the mayor is remembered for his passion for helping young people and fighting drug crimes.

Sarah Pulliam (WJI alum 03) won awards for 2009 from the Evangelical Press Association in the categories of Reporting, Photo Feature, and Interview Article. Sarah is online editor for Christianity Today.

Warren Cole Smith (WJI speaker 00, 09) has a new book entitled A Lover’s Quarrel with the Evangelical Church. Smith is editor and publisher of the Evangelical Press Service.

Cal Thomas (WJI speaker 02-04) marked 25 years of column-writing in April. Congratulations to Thomas, who is syndicated in over 540 newspapers across the U.S. and abroad, and has a daily radio commentary carried on over 300 stations.
