“WJI Really Inspired me to use more audio and video in my stories. It’s good to have a course on Biblically objective journalism here in Europe. It really helped me think about how to work as a Christian journalist.”
"One of the biggest things I took home from WJI was having been able to witness what happens when brothers and sisters work together for the glory of God and to bless and edify the people. WORLD definitively embodies its mission statement. What an amazing group of people and working environment at World!"
"The biggest lesson that I'm gonna take with me is what Lee Pits told us at the beginning of our time here and that is stories told well can change lives."
“Lynn Vincent shared with each one of us a copy of one of her favorite articles. We got to dissect it and talk about what worked and really peak under the hood about how to understand the mechanics of writing. That was really instructive to me.”
Meeting the mentors and working with them helped me immensely. Physically seeing how journalism works as a whole with people in the business was an incredible opportunity. I loved hearing and perfecting this craft of journalism in the name of the Lord.
The mid-career writing course expanded my horizons: It taught me to write in new ways, for different audiences, and on topics that need attention from a Christian worldview. Sometimes a well-meaning amateur tries to coach your batting swing or tennis serve and ends up disrupting your natural rhythm so badly that you can’t even hit the ball! The mid-career writing course had an opposite effect: coaching by experienced writers sharpened my skills and led to opportunities that I had never anticipated.
I was blown away by the quality of the program and the genuine helpfulness of all the faculty. They challenged us for sure, but I could tell they wanted to see us succeed, too. Also, the quality of the students. I was older than nearly all of the other students, but they were all so mature and genuine. I truly, truly loved getting to know several of them. The atmosphere of camaraderie and supporting each other was incredible.
